Through the sisters, she finds out that she herself is a Downworlder, supernaturalįolk such as warlocks and vampires, and has the power to shapeshift into any other person at will. Instead of meeting her brother at the docks, she is taken hostage by two sisters, better known as the Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called the Pandemonium Club, who explain that she has a rare talent that they must teach her to use properly. It takes place in London, 1878, after sixteen-year-old Theresa 'Tessa' Gray has just arrived.
It is the prequel series to The Mortal Instruments, and features many of the same aspects, like Shadowhunters, Downworlders and demons. Clockwork Angel, by Cassandra Clare and the first book in the Infernal Devices trilogy, is an intriguing story packed with suspense and romance.
